Celebrating Our Founders: Top 4 Victorian Local Hero Nominees
We’re proud to share that Carly McKinnis and Tammie Meehan, Co-Founders of One Red Tree Resource Centre, have been named Top 4 Victorian Nominees for the 2026 Australian of the Year – Local Hero Award.
This honour recognises their heartfelt work in strengthening mental health support across rural Western Victoria, bringing communities together and creating real pathways for connection and hope.
Their nomination highlights something we deeply believe: rural communities matter, and grassroots local organisations deserve to be recognised and with strong partnerships we can make a huge impact.

Indigenous Acknowledgement
One Red Tree Resource Centre Inc and all the individuals who make up our organisation respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the country on which we live and work. We especially acknowledge the Djab Wurrung people, and other peoples on whose ancestral lands One Red Tree Resource Centre provides services to the community. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge their living culture and centuries of custodianship of these lands, which were never ceded. We acknowledge that the land on which we stand always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
