One Red Tree Resource Centre (ORTRC) was founded in January 2022 and has placed a total of 46 provisional psychologists studying their Master of Clinical Psychology/Professional Psychology across 18 schools in Ararat and Surrounding areas.

​

Each placement includes a minimum of 300 placements hours, which includes 80 hours of direct client contact and 42 supervision hours (21 individual, 21 group) provided by an AHPRA endorsed clinical psychologist supervisor.

​

Placements are in primary, secondary and specialist schools and provide opportunities for provisional psychologists to work within our Relational Model.

  • Working holistically with students, families, and school communities to inform the best treatment plan for the student

  • Working relationally within ORTRC and rural communities.

​

During placements provisional psychologists work within one or two schools for the entire placement, and will:

  • Provide initial assessments

  • Case formulation

  • Treatment delivery

  • Consultation with parents, teachers, and wellbeing teams

  • liaise with external health care professionals

  • provide written plans to support each student at school and home.

​

Participating students are all identified by the schools.

​

We currently have agreements with the following universities:

  • Federation University- Ballarat

  • Monash University

  • La Trobe University

  • Australian Catholic University

  • RMIT

We are open to partnering with other universities if they have students who wish to be placed at ORTRC.

Our placements are capped at a maximum of 20 places per semester.
