Carly McKinnis
Carly has worked as a clinical psychologist for the last 25 years in a variety of different settings. After completing a Masters of Psychology in Child, Educational and Developmental Psychology she worked in the disability sector, Lifeline and then moved into the clinical mental health space. Carly spent a number of years working in remote indigenous communities and credits this time with influencing and developing her values, direction and a strong connection to the land and it's people. Carly then returned to her hometown of Ararat, completed her clinical psychology endorsement and spent 16 years working in child and adolescent mental health, adult mental health, education and private practice. On returning to her hometown, Carly was fortunate to cross paths with Tammie Meehan and they immediately struck up a friendship and a shared passion for early intervention in mental health and a love for their community. From this the seed for One Red Tree was planted. The impact of suicide on the community and the ongoing lack of mental health support fuelled the growth of this idea into the clinic we have today. Carly is excited about the future development of One Red Tree and breaking down barriers to work more collaboratively with other service providers to co-ordinated mental health services that responds to the individual needs of our community.
